The 'Saturday Circle' is held on the 2nd and 4th Saturday morning from 10 am- 12 pm. This time is for moms and mentors to enjoy being together, for a chat and a free nutritious snack. It's a place where supportive friendships often start.
The Saturday Circle is also a play time for babies and kids, and for moms and mentors to share their experiences, learn from one another and about community resources. The lending library is popular with books on wellness, positive parenting, overcoming challenges etc. Books suitable for young children are also available.
There are no fees. This program is thanks to our generous sponsors i.e., The Lions, Rotary, PEO. We appreciate their support and others Coast Capital, Nicky Reid and Co, Sawyers and donations from other individuals helping us to achieve our goals.
Mentors also schedule regular meetings for conducting business, planning activities and mentor training sessions. Volunteers are always welcome.
Those who might be interested in volunteering are welcome to visit our Saturday Circle. Prior to coming please call the office at 250-986-2549. We are available to answer your questions, as well as provide information about our activities, our schedule and various locations.

The seeds for the Moms and Mentors program started from a parenting class that a Public Health Nurse facilitated in 1995 at Belmont Secondary School in Langford B.C. They also established a day care center on site at Belmont, working in collaboration with the Knights of Columbus, the Sooke School Board, principals, teachers, counsellors and parents.
Following graduation, two young moms and the PHN moved the class from the school into the community. They sought out locations for meetings, recruited mentors, and invited people to participate in the mentor training program. They partnered with other service groups and started a scholarship program.
They reached out to other communities and assisted them in starting up their own moms and mentors program i.e., in Sooke and in Victoria at the Kiwanis House and the Single Parent Resource Centre.
For over 30 years, Moms and Mentors have been there for families, for moms and kids as a community based, volunteer support network.
